Nazreen: What planet is this, Doctor?
The Doctor: It’s called R’lyeh. You should be excited, Nazreen! No one’s been on this planet since Gallifrey was young. It was forbidden to come here.
Nazreen: If its forbidden, why are we here?
The Doctor: The TARDIS detected something here, something calling out, so we’re here to help - Oh no.
Nazreen: What is it Doctor? What’s wrong?
The Doctor: That wall. Those words. We shouldn’t be here. We should really leave. Right now.
Nazreen: What does it say?
The Doctor: Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn.
Nazreen: What? Those weren’t words, Doctor.
The Doctor: In his house at R’lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.
Nazreen: R’lyeh, this planet, but I don’t follow. Who waits?
The Doctor: A myth, Nazreen. Something wrong. Something that shouldn’t be. There was a story, on Gallifrey. An old story, of monsters in the dark, to scare Time Lords.
Nazreen: What would a Time Lord have to be scared of?
The Doctor: “Before the first life awoke, across the universe, buried deep in earth and stone, slept nameless beasts. Impossible, unnatural, inconceivable things. Ancient and terrible. Time immemorial they lay, dead but dreaming. In the dark and the cold abyss, they waited.”
(My idea for Doctor Who doing the Cosmic Horror genre: The CthulWho Mythos. The Doctor and new companion Nazreen find R’lyeh.)
